05-12-2012 (Week 9 in the Prison Program)
“This past week, Missy got adopted and left the institution. As she walked out, Beatrice stood by the fence and howled as Missy left. Once in the cell, Beatrice whined and paced back and forth sniffing under the door. I believe I underestimated how attached Beatrice was to Missy. Beatrice would like to have a home just like Missy.”
05-04-2012 (Week 8 in the Prison Program)
“I had the privilege of working with Beatrice this past week. I would allow Beatrice to smell the scent of treats in my hand and then I would hide the treats in different parts of the yard. Out of the 6 treats that I hid, she found four of them and when I brought her outside the following morning, she started searching the area once again for treats and she found the remaining 2 treats. I was surprised that she would pick up where she left off the previous day! I noticed this week that whenever she does something wrong, she will come to me and try to lick my face or hand…she is getting real good at that.”
04-28-2012 (Week 7 in the Prison Program)
“I was surprised this week by Beatrice. I left the cell to get some treats and when I returned I was momentarily surprised. I didn’t see Beatrice and I know I closed the door when I left and she wasn’t walking around in the hall so where was she? So I entered the cell and found her in my bunk buried under the covers with only her head sticking out. This was a very funny sight!”
04-20-2012 (Week 6 in the Prison Program)
“Beatrice is doing very well with everything. Sometimes she has a little problem with listening but other than that she is alright. She will walk side-by-side with you on or off leash and has the softest ears you will ever find.”
04-14-2012 (Week 5 in the Prison Program)
“Beatrice is showing a lot of improvement with her training. I play games with her and hide treats all over the yard and tell her to go hunt for the treats and she finds them all. She plays nicely with the others dogs but also can play by herself. She is social with the people that greet her and is especially social with the other dog Missy.”
04-06-2012 (Week 4 in the Prison Program)
“This has been a good week with Beatrice. She is really adjusting to her training. She will sit and wait for her food when it’s time to eat and she will let me take her food bowl away without any aggression. She enjoys her daily exercise doing laps in the yard and she is being more social with the other dogs and people, especially Zoey. The training is paying off for Beatrice and she is ready for her new home.”
03-31-2012 (Week 3 in the Prison Program)
“This week with Beatrice has been very interesting but she is just being herself. Every week I learn something new from her. We are working very hard with her and she is working just as hard so that she can find a new home soon. She loves to be rubbed, which makes her a people friendly dog; the more people that likes her, the more rubs she will get.”
03-23-2012 (Week 2 in the Prison Program)
“Beatrice enjoys being around people and playing with the other dogs. She really enjoys everyday life; you can see it when you are with her. Beatrice is a very intriguing dog and she isn’t just a dog…she is a very smart dog. She would enjoy being with a family and having a big backyard.”
03-17-2012 (Week 1 in the Prison Program)
“When I met Beatrice for the first time, we bonded right away; she’s just that friendly of a dog. She has no problem with the crate and knows her name since she comes when you call her. Beatrice got a bath this week and took it like a champ. Beatrice has a mind of her own and loves to groom herself; she is a real lady! She loves to smell everything outside and it puts her in a trance. Beatrice is very smart and listens very well.”
03-10-2012 (Arrival to the Prison Program)
Beatrice met the other dogs in the prison program and she is ready to start learning some manners and skills to be ready for her new home.

Beatrice is a beautiful girl who is great with other dogs and loves treats. She is a happy – go – lucky girl most of the time, but sometimes becomes wary of people and so needs a dog experienced adopter who can work with her on this.
