01-22-2012 (Week 9)
“Wayne is starting to come into his own. When he goes outside for recreation, the other dogs wait on him and once he comes out they chase him for an hour. He would be good with a family of older children and possibly another dog. Wayne walks well using the training harness; he’s a different dog! He may get adopted soon and we know his new family will love him.”
01-13-2012 (Week
“This week, Fuzzy Wayne surprised me and when I said ‘play dead’ he completely laid down and acted like he was playing dead. When I said ‘come on’ he jumped up and acted so happy. Wayne wants to learn and please you. I think he would be happy with a family of older kids and possibly another dog since he likes to play. He can walk beautifully using a training harness and he met a lot of nice people at the adoption events this week.”
01-07-2012 (Week 7)
“Wayne is developing into a more settled down dog everyday. He is making progress with not getting so excited when greeting individuals. He is always very alert to different sounds and nothing makes him feel better than a good rub. He still gets in his crate when told to do so and gives a warning when he needs to go outside to do his business. Fuzzy keeps his nose to the ground smelling everything in his path. He is not aggressive at all and is very affectionate.”
01-01-2012 (Week 6)
“Wayne enjoys the outdoors every chance he gets; that is when he seems the happiest. When given the command to stay, I can walk approximately 25 ft. away and then he comes when I call him and he sits automatically. Wayne likes to challenge other handlers by not paying attention to their commands. He has a lot of energy and likes to be independent and explore things outside. He still never chews on anything except his toys.”
12-25-2011 (Week 5)
“Wayne was outside one day and he saw a cat and ran after it but couldn’t catch it. I think he just wanted to play with the cat. Fuzzy Wayne continues to show signs of better understanding. He’s always developing new ways of being the center of attention. He loves keeping me company and watches TV with me. He never destroys anyone’s personal property and loves his own toys. I think Wayne would make a good therapy dog for other dogs to help the shy dogs come out of their shell. He is a wonderful dog with a lot of character.”
12-17-2011 (Week 4)
“We have been working really hard to correct some bad habits like Wayne wanting to lead. He keeps his nose to the ground smelling every scent possible. Getting him to sit is working very well plus walking on a loose leash. He is very active with the other dogs and always wants to be the center of attention. If it were possible, I would adopt him myself.”
12-03-2011 (Week 3)
“Fuzzy Wayne has a lot of character and always finds new ways to get my undivided attention. He loves to play with other dogs and is well-behaved when it comes to my personal property. One day, he vocally spoke to me with a low growl-like sound sort of like he was crying…it was so cute to hear. He has never had an accident inside but didn’t want to use the bathroom in the rain. Maybe finding his own scent was a challenge. Everyday after playtime I place him in a time out to settle down. We’ve been practicing that approach for about a week and he’s getting the hang of it. I hurt my toe one day and Wayne knew I was in pain so he came over and started licking me to try to get me to play. I see that as no matter what is going on, Wayne will try to raise your spirit when you are down.”
11-27-2011 (Week 2)
“Some day, in the very near future, Fuzzy will enjoy the company of a loving family who will love him for his quirky ways of affection. He is learning to respond well to commands and especially when you have his full attention. He lets you know if he needs to go outside by whining a little or pulling you or rubbing up against you and doesn’t have accidents. He’s not aggressive at all around people.”
11-19-2011 Arrival (Week 1)
“Fuzzy Wayne (I usually just call him Wayne) is a funny, lovable, well-behaved dog and enjoys being around people. He is creative at finding ways to get your attention and sometimes wakes me by putting his paw on my arm and nudging me until I wake up. Wayne loves to be the center of attention and loves to run in the yard and seems to have plenty of fun. He has trouble focusing on training when the other dogs or people are around. He loves to be snuggled day or night. Wayne has a hearty appetite and shows a lot of affection towards people. He doesn’t mind going in his crate for periods of time but doesn’t like going up and down stairs too much. He is man’s best friend for sure!”
