Echo came to us shy and scared from Puerto Rico. Since then he has blossomed into a happy ball of love who greets you with a flood of kisses and an enthusiastically wagging little tail. Dinner time is Echo’s favorite time of the day! This boy will do anything for a cookie, which has made him very easy to train. Echo is housetrained, crate-trained, and knows basic commands like sit, lay down, wait, and wanna go for a ride/walk. He can be trusted left home alone, but does not like to be left home alone for long periods of time. He will need another dog in the household to keep him company when there are no humans around so he won’t get lonesome. Echo’s gentle personality makes him an ideal second dog. He gets along great with other dogs, even bossy little pups, and really enjoys being part of a pack. Because of Echo’s rocky past, he can be a bit shy at first, especially with men. He prefers a quiet environment, as noises and running frighten him. He would be best off in a home with no children. He is better with female children than males, and any children in the house would need to be at least 14. Echo was hit by a car prior to coming to LDCRF, so he has some hip pain from that and will need to be on Rimadyl for life. He does not like having his hip touched too hard. He is not allowed to go play at the dog park, but Echo loves his walks and the outdoors. He loves to play fetch with squeaky balls and go for car rides. After playtime is over Echo is happy to snuggle on the couch and keep you warm and toasty. Echo is a wonderful dog with lots of love to give the right family. He just needs a chance to shine.
