Lena is a big beautiful girl with soft blond fur, huge brown eyes with lots of black eyeliner. She is a one-ear-up dog with a slightly quizzical expression on her sweet face. Her foster mom thinks she looks like a miniature version of Scooby-Do. A very thin and pregnant Lena came to LDCRF from Puerto Rico. She had her pups on Presidents Day weekend [see Lena’s Pups]. Lena is a fantastic mama dog, caring for her pups and teaching them wonderful dog manners.
Lena loves a good walk and, an even better, a flop on the couch where she can cuddle and get belly rubs. Once she knows she is part of your household, she takes on the role of protector of the property, going on patrol in the yard and barking to ward off baddies. She gets along with cats and dogs. She will chase after squirrels and rabbits and has not yet seen a deer. She’s nervous when it rains and trembles when it thunders; however, hugs and reassurance really make her feel better about things. This sweet girl was clearly someone’s dear pet before finding herself homeless in Puerto Rico.
