We found our beloved Hippolyta at a Lost Dog Adoption event at Seven Corners Petsmart on January 6th. She was a very friendly kitty and curled up on my lap and then my husband’s lap. We brought her home and she spent seven hours under the bed in the basement. When she finally came out, she began exploring. She is a frisky nine month old kitty and she moves very, very fast. My son says she skitters from one shadow to the next. She especially likes sitting by the sliding glass doors in the basement and in the family room, watching the world go by.
Expensive cat toys? I don’t think so. She loves playing with the cardboard centers of toilet paper rolls. She also loves the very little catnip mice that a friend gave to me.
Her computer skills are impressive. She learned early on how to shut off the computer by stepping on a key on the keyboard. She didn’t appreciate my typing on the keyboard when I could be petting her — with both hands. We have had to install a “cover” over the “Power” key. She also likes to enter her own text and swat at the computer screen.
She enjoys climbing the cat tree in the family room. She wanted to walk from the cat tree directly onto the counter and then over to get a drink of water from the cat fountain. So we had to clear a path on the counter for her. Her housemate, Andromeda, also uses this path (as well as plays with Hippolyta’s catnip mice). Hippolyta likes lying in wait on the top basement stair like a mountain lion, ready to beat a hasty retreat into the basement.
Hippolyta has a very high pitched mew. She mews when getting on our laps, when getting off our laps, when entering a room, when leaving a room. Oh, and I didn’t mention that she is a gorgeous tuxedo cat with the most beautiful green eyes.
