Are you a cat person? Does the sound of a contented purr make your day? Is a head bop the ultimate form of flattery as far as you are concerned? Purrrfect! We have space for you in the lives of our feline friends.
Care for Cats at our Animal Care Center
Thank you for your interest in volunteering at our Animal Care Center (Kennel)! We are always looking for new volunteers to join us!
We have a variety of different activities for volunteering with cats at our Animal Care Center (ACC), including providing out-of-cage playtime, socialization, cage-cleaning, and fresh food and water. This daily interaction keeps our cats healthy, happy, and ready to meet new families!
Volunteers MUST BE AT LEAST 18 YEARS OF AGE to sign up and Care for Cats at the ACC.
To get started, each volunteer is required to complete a new volunteer welcome/orientation.
At our new volunteer orientation, you will learn about our processes and procedures at the ACC. We want to make sure that you and our cats are safe and have a great time!
New Volunteer Welcome/Orientation Sessions are offered:

Upon completion of the group orientation session, volunteers interested in caring for cats will be scheduled to meet with one of our Cat Volunteer Ambassadors and receive additional training in our cat room. This appointment usually takes about 45 minutes.
Where is the Kennel Located?
The kennel is located at 6801 Wilson Blvd, Falls Church, VA and can be tricky to find your first time. The video below explains where to find us (NOTE – a parking pass is no longer required; visitors may park in the lot by our building or in the Eden Center parking lot).
Help at our Cat Centers
Cat Center Volunteers provide out-of-cage playtime, socialization, cage-cleaning, and fresh food and water for our cats at local PetSmart adoption centers. This daily interaction keeps out cats healthy, happy, and ready to meet new families.
Volunteers must commit to a weekly or bi-weekly shift, either in the morning or evening, and must be at least 14 years old. Volunteers under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Consider making it a family activity with the added bonus of an opportunity for teenagers to earn service hours!
